Defence League units join Winter Camp exercise

ERR - Kaitseliit (Defence League) volunteer units of the territorial command for northeastern Estonia joined the Winter Camp exercise of Estonia's 1st Infantry Brigade at the Soodla training area Friday to polish their skills in tactical cooperation and streamline command procedures with other units of the Northeast battle group and the brigade.
Maj. Ivo Hakman, chief of staff of the Viru district of the volunteer corps, said that the training exercise lasting until Sunday offered all parties the possibility to hone their combat skills in a multinational setting under winter conditions against a motorized and dispersed enemy in close terrain, spokespeople for Kaitseliit said.

The other parties taking part in the Winter Camp exercise are active service military and conscripts from the headquarters of the 1st Infantry Brigade, the Scouts Battalion, the Kalev Infantry Battalion, the Combat Service Support Battalion, the Reconnaissance Company, the Support and Signal Company, the Anti-tank Company, the Kuperjanov Infantry Battalion, as well as members of the U.S. contingent stationed in Estonia. The maneuver units are supported by the Air Force and the Pioneer Battalion.
