Central Assembly

The Central Assembly of the Estonian Defence League is the highest body organising the activities of the Estonian Defence League with the following tasks:
  • Discussing issues concerning the organisation and general activities of the Estonian Defence League and adopt a position with regard to these;
  • Selecting the members of the Board of Elders, Central Management and Central Audit Committee and honorary members of the Estonian Defence League;
  • Approving the application for financing and the budget of the Estonian Defence League for specific purposes from the state budget.
  • Approving the annual report of the Estonian Defence League;
  • Deciding over acquiring, transferring and pledging real estate for applying for a permit from the Government of the Republic;
  • Making recommendations for amending the Statutes and rules of procedure;
  • Approving statutes of affiliated organisations of the Estonian Defence League;
  • Approving the amounts of the entrance fee and membership fee.

The Central Assembly of the Estonian Defence League is comprised of active members of the Estonian Defence League. Representatives of the management boards of units are selected into the Central Assembly from every regional district unit as follows: district unit with up to 1,000 members – two representatives, district unit with up 2,000 members – three representatives, district unit with over 2,000 members – four representatives. One of the representatives of a regional district unit’s management board shall be the chief of the regional district unit or assistant chief.
