President Kersti Kaljulaid hosted the leaders of the Women’s voluntary defence organization.

The head of the women’s voluntary defence organization, Airi Tooming and the assistant head of the women’s voluntary defence organization, Ave Proos along with active member, Triin Tõnsing met with the President of the Republic, Kersti Kaljulaid at Kadrioru, to discuss the role of the Women’s voluntary defence organization in National Defence.
The President of the Republic, Kersti Kaljulaid stated: „ I met with the leaders of the Women’s voluntary defence organization and discussed the organization’s role as well as the role of women in National Defence. We do not need to try to find this role, it already exists. We have to find various ways, to intoduce this role to women and the work of the Women’s voluntary defence organization in this area is to be highly praised. The question is not only in regards to National Defence but it is much more widely encompassing and concerns all of us – how to protect your family, your home and community.“
 
In the words of the head of the Women’s voluntary defence organization, Airi Tooming, the President was primarily interested in the role of the Women’s voluntary defence organization’s development of population protection. „ We were introduced to course workings of safety risk management and discussed how we can pass on the taught knowledge quickly and widely to as many individuals as possible. We also discussed how the role of women in National Defence should be multi-faceted and flexible,“ added Tooming.
